I am thinking of having mine done in time for Christmas.?They are really great................however, be sure you realize that every two weeks or so you will have to go back to have them filled. And then after several weeks, they have to be taken off, and replaced with new ones. It all counts up to a lot of money, but they do look nice, especially the ones that look like a French manicure. Are fake nails worth it? I am thinking of having mine done in time for Christmas.?
Go for it girl!! Only advice is you go somewhere that has a good reputation, better if recommended to you!

There's lots of places doing nail extensions on the cheap and there is usually a very good reason why they are cheap!! You don't want to be sacrificing your own nails by having cheap acrylic/gel applied! Are fake nails worth it? I am thinking of having mine done in time for Christmas.?
I'll tell you what I tell my teenage daughters....grow your own!

Acrylic nails use super glue to bond the tips to your fingernails, after they sand off the top layer of your natural nail to make it bond better, then a cyanocrynylate powder (super glue) blend to fill in the remaining area. Getting them off requires either peeling or popping them off, which is damaging to your nail bed, or soaking in acetone, also damaging to your own nails. If you choose to keep them, look at 15-20 dollars every 10 days to two weeks to keep getting them filled in. Then you're running the risk of contracting fungus underneath them which can permanantly damage or discolor your nail bed.

Hope this helps.
they look very elegant and classy so they are worth it. But you have to get them removed when they start growing out because they then look really ugly. You can't remove them yourself because it's too painful and the glue would leave residue. I actually bit my thumb with fake nail once and the nail cracked, i was in agony! And it's so annoying trying to pick things like a penny up from a flat surface with those nails in the way. Don't mean to put you off though, they're very pretty.
No, i cant stand women with fake nails... its rediculous, seriously. Instead of spending that money on yourself, try donating it or buying something this xmas for a homeless person or someone who needs something more than you do, that feeling will last a lifetime not a month like those nasty plastic nails.
They look really nice as your having them done and when they are on but as they fall off they rip your natural nail and cause them to thin break and flake, unless afterwards you have the time to do the repair treatment keeping them painted and making sure the polish doesn't chip file them twice a day rub a special hand cream which strengthens them i would say just paint them a nice colour and shape them. I used to wear fake nails a lot but then after i stopped for a while i realised how badly damaged my natural nails were and it took the a year and a half to grow back even remotely strong and healthy.
Don't. They destroy your nails. Get a good manicure instead and ask for a diamond top coat so that it lasts the holiday period. I had fake nails about 7 years ago, and after taking them off it took almost three years for my nails to come back to their orginal natural state.
well kinda.

i did mines for important events.

but for christmas i would totally do it.

but the bad thing for me was that i played sports,

and it always got in the way.

so you can get them done and then let them take it off for you too.!!

hope that helped.

:]]
They are worth it, but if you don't want to spend that much, just get the glue on ones. To get them off, soak your nails in hot water when you are ready, thats what I do and it comes off without damaging the nail.
im not one for anything fake on the body, so i would have to say no. i dont think they are worth the upkeep and cost more than they should. i would suggest keeping your hands in beautiful shape and letting your natural beauty be the focus.
it depends if you are ready for the upkeep, you have to pay to do them every 2 weeks to get them filled. ive had acrylic nails for almost 3 years and i love them. they make my real nails stronger.

and they look so classy and elegant. i would say go for it !
I had tips for a year and a half. Then, in making budget cuts, I cut out that luxury. My nails underneath are now very thin and break off all the time. I wouldn't do it unless you can keep on going...
I love my acrylic nails so i would say yes it is totally worth it. You can always try them and if you don't like them take them off and never do it again.
well, go to a manicure place. the ones there will stay on. But if you have contacts don't get them! they are too complacatied to get out. Or if you have contacts, get a smaller size for your nails.
No! I used to have mine done all the time in my late teens. Wish now that I would have used the money in a savings account.
I think they're worth it. Even if you get a simple french tip, it'll look really nice for the holidays because they'll go with any nice outfit you're going to wear.
Fake nails look good and everything, but they hurt your nails. They actually damage you finger nail with the glue and all. So i think it is better just to get no fake nails
do a nice manicure if your going to spend the money because at least with that you are still using your real nail and when christmas is over your not gnawing them off ... and they still look good
Sure they look nice and last awhile you can go with getting them filled every 3 weeks or so!

Go for it!
no there not they tend to fall of or break, so its not worth it they just use your money up, and anyways who wants to be fake
I had them for 5 years and they wreck your nails , they look lovely but very expensive for just a couple of weeks .
do the ones at the salon... a little more expensive but last longer and look betterr! i think its worth itt!
i think it will look good, except if u had to help around to cook xmas dinner.
no way. they are SOOO gross. seriouslyBarberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067184712444614933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3632516496578424373.post-27238989131215329132010-02-05T17:22:00.001-08:002010-02-05T17:22:42.212-08:00I `m thinking about getting my nails done for christmas but every time i get them done take them off . s.o.s?Learn a foreign language and it will get done right.I `m thinking about getting my nails done for christmas but every time i get them done take them off . s.o.s?
uhhhhhhh..... idkI `m thinking about getting my nails done for christmas but every time i get them done take them off . s.o.s?
I love Solar Nails with the pearl colored tips. They look more natural to me. My best friend just gets a layer of acrylic brushed over her real nails without a tip and paints that, it doesn't damage her real nails like the full on acrylic set does.
Yeah that happens sometimes, do you bit your nails?? Try this time to not put them near your mouth at all.... everytime you want to bite just think of something else.... this will help you keep them on longer, then by the time they are ready to come off your real nails would have grown a little so you can start growing real nails.
DON'T DO IT.... your nails are left brittle and cracked.
Get a do it yourself kit with the plastic nails from the store. They are temporary anyway, and wont do as much damage to your nails. They cost about $6 too, and you will have to paint them yourself, but overall its a better deal for a temporary time...
do puppies have rabies
Barberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067184712444614933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3632516496578424373.post-78311566221351795642010-02-05T17:22:00.000-08:002010-02-05T17:22:29.321-08:00I need my nails longer by christmas? At the moment my nails are like this http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/2036774/bitten_Full.jpg

ok their a bit better than that but you get the idea

I would like them like this length

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/44663000/jpg/_44663344_miran.jpg

Is there any way of doing it before christmasI need my nails longer by christmas?
Fake Nails.I need my nails longer by christmas?
You can buy special nail growth formula. She is 13 1/2 years old and loves to paint her nails? She also likes eye liners. What kinds of colors are good for a 13 year old as far as nails go. I know black is kinda in, any other makeup ideas for teens??I am looking to buy makeup for my neice for Christmas. She is 13 1/2 years old and loves to paint her nails?
I think if she enjoys doing her nails, she'd LOVE a kit of nail art she can do at home, there's many nail 'tattoos' available, they go on like a temporary tattoo would, just on the nail instead of the skin and then she'll topcoat with a clear polish to keep it from being damaged. I *adored* those when I was her age...hell...even now I love them haha =o)

eBay is awesome for these because there's SO much choice all in one place, they'll arrive quick also because they come in just an envelope and they're pretty nice for cost because they'll be cheap on their own and then a very small shipping rate since they weigh nothing at all!

You'll also find beading kits where she can glue on small rhinestones and tiny flowers and all that good, creative, fun stuff! When you're on there, search ';nail art'; and you'll get a billion results but it won't take long at all to find tons of stuff she'll have lots of fun using. Lots of sellers have bunches of diff things they sell, so look around and get the best deal by combining on shipping to get everything you want from the one seller.

Hope that helps! =o)I am looking to buy makeup for my neice for Christmas. She is 13 1/2 years old and loves to paint her nails?
First of all, make sure it's OK with her parents for you to buy her makeup. I know that my mom wouldn't really have liked me wearing eyeliner and stuff when I was 13. Some parents are stricter than others about that sort of thing.

Nail polish is a great idea, though, and they have the cutest little assortments of mini-bottles of OPI nail polish at beauty stores like Ulta. I know the kids like the black nail polish, but I think it's a little goth, personally. How about some fun bright colors, like hot pink and purple? Since that whole retro 80's look is back in again, I see a lot of kids soprting bright neon colors. Neon yellows, oranges, and greens would be fun for toenails, too.

If you're still not sure, how about just getting her a gift card to MAC or Sephora so she can pick out the makeup she likes best? It's so hard to choose something that personal for someone else. Have a great day. Happy holidays!
Any of the nutural colors for make up is good. I worked at Merle Norman for a lil while. When girls that age would come in we would but naturl colors on them.. Or you can even go the pink, lavender eyeshadow than just put a brown or gray eye liner... It works well with that age... What you could even do is if you have a cosmetic stand in your area like Merle Norman... they will do a free make over and You could take her there and get her a couple eye shadows and eye lineers.

As far as nail polish... Any color is good for that...

Good Luck and have a nice Christmas. :)
I'd say use tinted moisturizer no blush a light simple colored gloss also very very simple colored eyeshadow if any no black nail polish please she is 13 try metallic colors instead and she'll look fabulous in her own own young age but i don't think she needs make up to be beautiful she probabaly beautiful just the way she is
that's so sweet. my aunts always bought me pantyhose or some random strange thing. I've got a black dress, well, it's silver with a black lace/netting on top so predominately black with black heels and a silver clutch bag. I wanted a colour for my finger nails that would add a bit of colour. I know silver is the obvious choice but didn't know whether there was any colour i'd missed that would be suitable for a posh christmas do? If you think silver i'd choose that but just wanted to check :) xHelp on picking a nail colour to go with a black dress being worn to a posh(ish) christmas do?
Bright corally red - really Christmassy too! Also, do they come off easily, like when I'm asleep?

Thanks for all your help and answers! :DShould I get fake nails for Christmas?
if you get cheap ones then they won't last very long and they will come off pretty easily

but if you get the nicer ones that actually glue on and all that then they are pretty durable and you could have them up to a month, watch out though because fake nails can do a lot of damage to your actual nails and read how to take them off because it isn't always pleasant

fake nails will make your nails look pretty though so i think its a good idea, just make sure you get good quality onesShould I get fake nails for Christmas?
I recommend acrylic nails versus the glue-on nails. Acrylics definitely have their downsides, but they look and feel more natural; not to mention, they are more durable and can withstand more of the daily abuse we subject our hands and fingernails to.

I am actually getting acrylics done tomorrow for Christmas. I have a regular place or two I go to, and they charge about $25, plus fees for any other ';special'; things I get done, like designs.

Good luck!
depends what nails you want...the acrilyc ones are around

$50 at a professional place and they look pretty for a couple of weeks maybe around days but then it grows out and looks really bad and tacky so u either get them refilled and that costs money or there another choice just the gels and thats on ur actual nail doing french but as u mentioned u have nasty nails im guessing you want the acrilyc ones.. ive got them done a couple of times it feels natural but i guess if ur used to it. but when u get them off ur nails feel really weak and soft. or either you get it professionaly taken off which costs money aswell. or you can get the ones from priceline which only stay for a bout 2 days. the priceline ones come off easily whereas the professional ones feel natural and keeps on for days and days!
I got some last year and I HATED them. I couldn't even type on the keyboard, and they hurt so bad because they kept getting bent. Then they started cracking and lifting up, and I had parts of my real nails that got tore off from them. They weren't cheap either and were done 'professionally' ... what a ripoff. They were gel nails and cost me $65.

I'm never getting them again. Instead I get a french manicure on my real nails. I let them grow out and then go get them done... a lot easier.
If you go to a professional nail salon, they will no a nice job for about $20 or so (depending where you are).

The nails last about a couple of weeks and you can always go back to the salon and have it removed. And no, they won't come off when you sleep.
they last up to 4 days but when u like scratch your hair or something it falls off and its embarrassing! there pretty and stuff but the glue is really hard to get off your nails they break really easily when u sleep they dont fall off sometimesBarberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067184712444614933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3632516496578424373.post-11399417404417583552010-02-02T18:29:00.001-08:002010-02-02T18:29:25.277-08:00Do you have your nails done/painted for Christmas? If so what color?Do you have your nails done/painted for Christmas?
I painted my nails 2 days ago ; french tipped (white base, hot pink tips) but not for Christamas...I was bored and wanted to try it...

xoxoDo you have your nails done/painted for Christmas?
no, i usually only wear clear so they are shiny
nope
No. I never do anything other than paint my nails. I want to put the lights around my windows so how do i do this? Is there any kind of tape for the outside that snow or rain wont ruin? How to put up christmas lights on outside paneling of house without using nails or staples?? any idea?
Are your windows flush with the paneling? If not, then you should be able to buy clips that will clip onto the sides of the windows. Go to any store that sells lights to find them. If not, you can put the lights on the inside of your windows, where people will still be able to see them from the outside. How to put up christmas lights on outside paneling of house without using nails or staples?? any idea?
Do you mean vinyl? If it is you can buy clips, 0---0, like that, they fold around the wire and a small screw will go in through both holes into the siding. If it's something that won't hold a screw, there are some excellent caulking products you could use to 'glue' the wire on around the window. For either the clips or caulking go to a Good building centre with knowledgeable staff ( Home Depot or Rona will Not help, you want career oriented help here, not min. wage staff) There is a company making PL Premium, I know they are good for interior, recently heard they released some exterior caulks, might be the answer you need. And tape, if you found something claiming to work, it would be a short term gimmick. I've worked on home exteriors since '96, I've never seen any tape that even claims to stand up to the elements.
There isn't any kind of tape that would be successful for this. Yes, there is tape that will hold up the lights, though it doesn't work so well in cold weather, but you'd have to use so much that you'll have tape all over your siding and it'll be VERY hard to get it off later. Poor idea. If you have gutters, they'd be the best place to hang lights from.
You didn't mention whether your house has gutters or not. If it does, there are plastic clips that can be used to hang lights from on the gutters and they can be picked up at Wal Mart, Home Depot, or Lowe's. I hope that helps.Barberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067184712444614933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3632516496578424373.post-17350342324545490862010-02-02T18:27:00.002-08:002010-02-02T18:27:33.825-08:00Did anyone else paint their nails Christmas colors?I made mine into candy canes- white and red stripes =]Did anyone else paint their nails Christmas colors?
That sounds nice :) I painted mine red and sprinkled silver stars on them.
