Since it's coming up to Christmas...What sort of wood was Christ nailed to?

Was it oak, beech, cedar, sycamore, etc, what was it?

Depending on wether or not some too easily offended moron gets this question deleted, I may ask what ratio of carbon to iron was in the metal in the nails at a later date...Since it's coming up to Christmas...What sort of wood was Christ nailed to?
A microscopic examination of the fragments of the Cross scattered through the world in the form of relics reveals the fact that it was made from a pine-tree.I don't know about the nails.Since it's coming up to Christmas...What sort of wood was Christ nailed to?
its called the christmas wood!!

from the christmas tree!!!

LOL
chances are it would have been cedar, light tough n easily workable.

as for nails they'd probably have been copper, not go rusty when bled on!!
planks x2
Are you mixing up Christmas with Easter?
he was born on christmas....he died on passover....and was reserected (sp?) on easter!

(it says the kind of wood he was nailed to in the bible)
OOOUUUUUCCHHHH !

M : 0
the wood was probably from a local tree, possibly Acacia (mesquite) 0r Zizyphus (Jujube)which grows well in that area.
Could have been:

Pine as mentioned above, though there are enough relics to build a skyscraper from the cross fragments

Cedars from Lebanon - though probably too costly

Olive - gotta do something with the old trees that don't produce fruit

Fig - see above

Sycamores were common - Story of Zaccheus

Gopher wood - don't know what that is, but it was used in the Tabernacle articles... so there's a connection.

Probably wasn't a whole lot of carbon in the nails... steel came around about 1,000 years later.

And no, it doesn't mention the wood of the cross in the Bible.
I am not sure what kind of wood it was but I think it was angry because they say it was cross. Wood with bad attitude if you will.
err...you need to wait until Easter for this question - don't you?
I don't know and as most of the relics are known fakes we can hardly go by that

So being left with speculation here are a few suggestions.

Judas Tree

Gallows Tree (doesnt give a clue to type of wood lol)

Cross Tree

Blackthorn

GanTry (it's pronounced ';Gan-Tree';)

I can tell you for sure it wasn't any kind of Palm Tree (they are just too darn heavy woulda taken half a legion to carry the thing!)
I think you could only know that for sure if you were around at the time! I think it may have been a fine grained wood from an Acacia tree .
Easter is when they celebrate the crucifixtion and resurrection

Christmas is his birth. A better question would be, what kind of wood was the manger made of.

The Old testament says ';cursed is he who hangs on a tree';. It probably wasn't a ';cross';, so much as a ';pole';.

The best research suggests pine.
